Front-load vs rear-load

These terms describe the side used to fit and retain the lamp, not the side from which the frame enters the ceiling.

Front-load

Remove the retaining ring from the room side to fit or replace the lamp without pulling the complete frame from the ceiling.

Rear-load

Fit the lamp and retainer from the rear or ceiling side before inserting the frame. Later lamp changes typically require pulling the frame down.

Choose for access

Both constructions use spring clips and 360° adjustment. The main difference is how the lamp is assembled and accessed for service.
